1. Get Low [Blu-Ray] (2009)
Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: Get Low avoids some potential whimsical pitfalls and delivers a strong character piece. It boasts excellent performances and deep personalities to turn into an involving drama. The Blu-ray provides very good picture along with reasonably positive audio and supplements. Give this introspective flick a look. Starring Robert Duvall, Bill Murray. Sony, $38.9

3. Carrie [Blu-Ray] (1976)
Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: While I’m not sure Carrie deserves its prominence, I do think it offers an entertaining horror flick. The movie flirts with excessive campiness at times, but it usually balances those elements to a satisfactory degree. Starring Sissy Spacek, Piper Laurie. Fox, $9.99, 10/7/2008.

4. In the Bedroom (2001)
Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: Buoyed by excellent performances and a refreshing lack of obvious moralizing, In the Bedroom offers a haunting and vivid piece.

5. The Old Man & the Gun [Blu-Ray] (2018)
Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: Though it comes with ample dramatic potential and an overqualified cast, The Old Man & the Gun moderately fizzles. The movie dabbles in different thematic areas but fails to commit to any of them in a satisfactory manner. Starring Robert Redford, Sissy Spacek. Fox, $34.99, 1/15/2019.

6. JFK [Blu-Ray] (1991)
Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: Oliver Stone has yet to make a better film than 1991’s JFK. However, Stone abuses his power so egregiously that I have a difficult time appreciating JFK because it’s such a load of hooey. Starring Kevin Costner, Kevin Bacon. Warner, $24.98, 11/11/2008.

7. JFK: 2003 Special Edition (1991)
Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: For those who already own a prior JFK DVD, the question of “upgrade” comes into play. If you only have the old “flipper”, I’d definitely recommend this 2003 set; it improves upon the original disc in every way. However, if you possess the 2001 special edition release, I’d stick with it. That one and the 2003 version are almost identical. This package add

8. JFK: Ultimate Collector's Edition (1991)
Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: (A) double – or triple, or quadruple – dip (is) difficult to recommend. Objectively, the UCE provides the best release of JFK simply because it has all the supplements from the prior versions along with some new materials. However, its semi-high price makes it a tough sell. If you really, really dig JFK, I’d say go for it, but I think the 2003 SE remains

9. JFK: Special Edition (Oliver Stone Collection) (1991)
Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: Ultimately, I have to recommend JFK just because it’s such a strong film, but I urge you to check out other sources of material on the assassination and not just accept Stone’s blather without question. Starring Kevin Costner,Kevin Bacon. Warner, $24.98, 2/6/2001.
